Larry Brown is a “retired” architect who is actively pursuing large scale public sculpture assignments along with creating forward thinking fine art furniture.

He recently collaborated with master sculptor Kumpa to make a 30 foot tall Statue of Liberty for the 2013 Sarasota Chalk Festival located in downtown Sarasota.  In October 2013 Larry presented a gallery show of 7 contemporary table designs on the north shore of Boston. In his Sarasota studio he is currently creating a series of surreal console tables that is art first, and only upon discovery does a hint of its furniture function shine through.

Previously, Larry founded Developmental Designers, Inc. in Beverly, Mass producing the architecture for museums, corporate show rooms and multi-level trade shows.  His 15 years of work won best of show awards for clients such as Borg Warner Chemicals, General Electric Medical Systems, GE Lighting and GE Jet Engine groups, Timex, American Iron and Steel Institute, and Medtronic.  He has scientific and technological displays in the Chicago Science and Industry Museum and achieved a Guinness world book record for WR Grace.

He retired in late 2011 from DiGiorgio Associates Inc., a healthcare architecture and design/build firm based in Boston. As Director of Business Development he was responsible over 13 years for upgrades and new hospitals, ambulatory care and cancer center, design and construction throughout the northeast for the 66 person firm.

In his spare time he is an avid one-design sailboat racer from Marblehead and Rockport MA and races regionally in the Flying Scot sailboat class out of Sarasota FL.

Larry enjoys most the scholarly challenge to transform architectural and environmental elements into culturally advanced 3D art.   His fine art water features will be introduced 2014.

Academically he has a 5 year professional Bachelor of Architecture degree from State University of New York at Buffalo, a Master’s of Science in Architecture from Penn State University and he was a founding faculty member teaching architecture at the New Jersey Institute of Technology a division of Rutgers University.
